Pousada de Juventude - V. N. de Foz Côa
O terreno da proposta para a Pousada de Juventude de Vila Nova de Foz Côa situa-se no Douro Interior, a proposta visa ultrapassar a escala de expressão corrente sem intento de sobrevalorização do sentido do novo e pontual (único) do programa, ressalvando apesar de tudo o sentido público do edifício e o seu carácter de exceção que este terá, não só no carácter do aglomerado, mas fundamentalmente na paisagem em que se insere.
O edifício que se pretende estará, portanto, agarrado por um lado à tradição artesanal da sua envolvente, na sua adequação com o terreno e no uso de muros de pedra como elementos de contenção, e por outro lado como representação das novas capacidades técnicas e características programáticas exigidas ao edifício.
Pretende-se primeiro a expressão de um gesto único, monolítico, atitude que nos parece mais sensata de compromisso com a paisagem onde a variedade e diferenciação é colocada no interior nos percursos de ambulatórios, que propõem vistas diferenciadas, pontuais ou abrangentes com o exterior.
O programa desenvolve-se em dois corpos autónomos interligados por um corpo de acessos em rampa. O corpo 3 desenvolve-se em dois pisos, posicionado paralelamente ao caminho existente, autonomizando-se funcionalmente de acordo com o programa de Concurso, e corresponde à função de alojamento do edifício, designadamente os quartos, instalações sanitárias e arrumos, caracterizando-se deste modo como elemento principal do conjunto edificado.
A definição construtiva do edifício teve em conta por um lado parâmetros de economia de soluções funcionais ou materiais, e por outro lado o carácter representativo do equipamento, dotando-o de uma visão moderna e simultaneamente agarrado à imagem que o terreno, com o seu carácter agreste, transmite.
Deste modo, prevê-se uma construção mista de paredes resistentes internas no edifício e soluções estruturais rígidas nas fachadas envidraçadas em perfis metálicos. Como forma de obtenção de princípios uniformizadores e de continuidade, as fachadas serão revestidas a placagem de betão ou envidraçadas e contidas por fortes muros em pedra que serão usadas como elementos de compromisso com as estruturas do terreno.
The proposal area for the Vila Nova de Foz Côa Youth Hostel is located in the Douro Interior, the proposal aims to surpass the scale of current expression without attempting to overestimate the meaning of the new and punctual (unique) program, all the public sense of the building and its character of exception that it will have, not only in the character of the cluster, but fundamentally in the landscape in which it is inserted.
The building that is intended will be, on the one hand, clinging to the artisan tradition of its surroundings, its suitability with the terrain and the use of stone walls as elements of containment, and on the other hand as a representation of the new technical capacities and characteristics required to the building.
It is first intended the expression of a single, monolithic gesture, an attitude that seems to us more sensible of commitment to the landscape where the variety and differentiation is placed in the interior in ambulatory routes, which offer different views, punctual or comprehensive with the exterior.
The program is developed in two autonomous bodies interconnected by a body of ramp accesses. The body 3 develops in two floors, positioned parallel to the existing path, autonomous functionally according to the program of Contest, and corresponds to the function of housing of the building, namely the rooms, sanitary and storage facilities, characterizing itself of this as the main element of the edged set.
The constructive definition of the building took into account, on the one hand, parameters of economy of functional or material solutions, and on the other hand the representative character of the equipment, giving it a modern vision and simultaneously clinging to the image that the terrain, with its character rustic, transmit.
In this way, a mixed construction of resistant internal walls in the building and rigid structural solutions in the facades glazed in metallic profiles is foreseen. As a way of obtaining uniformising principles and continuity, the facades will be lined with concrete or glazed tiles and contained by strong stone walls that will be used as elements of commitment to the terrain structures.
